Black Mental Health
‘Mental Health’ is undoubtedly a phrase that has been heard repetitively. The Black Mental Health and Me (BMHM) that was commissioned by Leicester City Council in fact tells us nothing really new about the state of black mental health in Leicester and replicates what we see nationally. What is different about the report is the recommendations and that is what we at the AHA are looking to implement on behalf of the African heritage community.

Carnival Vibes at the African Caribbean Centre 2024
The cancellation of the Leicester Caribbean Carnival could not stifle Leicester’s celebration of over 150 years of the Caribbean emancipation. On the 3rd of August 2024, a crowd gathered at the African Caribbean Centre (ACC) for ‘Carnival Vibes at the ACC’ to ensure the 39th year of celebrations were acknowledged.
